Alternates, Alternates

Continued from “Does Desire Bring Clarity?”

Water won’t work as a separator because of the fiber in this plaster.  An alternate material is needed.  Shellac and silicone lubricant seem to do the trick.  But we still needed the air hammer to break the dense mother material.

Yesterday Cooper abruptly stood stock still in the middle of the hallway.  He blocked Sarra and my progress.  We waited.  Cooper is verbal but it takes him a long time express himself.

“Hi Ms. Block.  Hi Sarra.”

“Hi Cooper,” I replied.

Sarra looked at him for several minutes.

“Hi Chandler.”

She walked on without perseveratory speech.

I’ve noticed that Sarra is never perseveratory when she talks to other children but always perseverates when she talks to adults.   Do we adults need to reconsider what we are providing when we talk to her?  Are we still too quick?  Are we still too verbal?

It seems some alteration supporting delivery is needed.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Does anyone out there have ideas?
