“Sarra what did you draw?”

   “A diamond.”

We pass a white board back and forth to draw.

   “Fish.”

   “Bubbles.”

   “Stars.”

I take away the white board and I ask for more, handing Sarra an I Pad between each drawing.  I want her to keyboard rather than verbalize before I give it back.

Sarra draws and then keyboards.

            Polka dots.

            Leaves.

            Moon and stars.

I ask for more.

“I see that you are drawing flowers.  What color?”

            Red.

I won’t hand back the white board yet.  I want Sara to pull another sentence from my question.  I hand her the I Pad again. “What are you drawing?”

            I am drawing red flowers.

“What is that?”

            A Diamond and dots.

What happened? Did you erase it?

            I erased it.

Teaching Sarra is like stringing beads on a necklace.  As each bead is added, it enhances the former and provides the furniture for the next.

The crate for the third cat is complete.  Now that the outside structure is in place, I can begin to build the interior armature.  Each layer must work together to create a whole.
