Continued From “What Color Is A Duck?”

Seth draws new plans for the train car.

He carefully drills a hole in each of two strips of foam core.  He uses Velcro to add each to the bottom of the car.  Both are floppy.  They swing back and forth as he waves the car in the air.

“Its ready.”

His mother meets my eyes.  Neither of us thinks his solution will work.  We think the car will collapse.

“Ok!  Lets put the axel through and screw it together.”

This takes the better part of a half hour.

I help Seth flip the car.  He links it to the train.  Seth starts the motor.  The car and train begin to make their way across the workroom floor.

His mother and I laugh.

How DID he know that the axel would provide enough extra support?

After Seth leaves I continue to piece together this wax.  Adjusting its proportions with value added from maturity.
